Disability Action Plan

Centrelink's Disability Action Plan is the first to be launched under the new Commonwealth Disability Strategy. The aim of the strategy and the Disability Action Plan are to address five key principles of equity, inclusion, participation, access and accountability.

The purpose of the Disability Action Plan is to:

  • promote acceptance of people with disabilities and that they have the same rights as the rest of the workforce
  • identify and remove barriers for people with disabilities, either in the workplace or in the provision of services
  • eliminate discriminatory practices as an employer, a purchaser of services and service provider
  • consider the needs of people with disabilities when developing new strategies, in our people management strategies and in our service delivery strategies.

Centrelink's Disability Action Plan has been developed following consultation with employees, including those employees with a disability, throughout the Centrelink network. Feedback was also obtained from members of the Centrelink Disability Customer Service Reference Group.
