Department of Human Services

The Department of Human Services has been operating since October 2004. The Human Services Portfolio brings together six diverse service delivery agencies, including Centrelink, with the aim of improving the delivery of social and health-related services to the Australian people. The six Human Services agencies are:

The Portfolio collectively delivers payments and services worth over $80 billion each year. Senator the Hon. Joe Ludwig, Minister for Human Services, is the Minister responsible for the Human Services portfolio. The Human Services portfolio is about people and the services we may need at different stages of our lives.
