Business ContactAbout the Business Contact ServiceThe Business Contact Service will allow businesses to get and send information to Centrelink via a secure messaging system. Information requested from businessesCentrelink requests information from financial institutions, employers, real estate agents and local governments to help confirm current customer details. Why Centrelink is introducing the electronic transfer serviceThe Australian Government is committed to reducing 'red tape' for the business community. Centrelink is currently exploring the possibility of introducing eBusiness for employers and planning is well under way for proof of concept trials with a small number of employers. eBusiness will provide employers with the option of electronic transfer of information required by Centrelink. How the electronic transfer service will workBusinesses will be able to logon to a secure application that will allow the transmission of documents and messages between the business and Centrelink. All documents will be sent via a secure messaging system to a password protected specialised mailbox. Privacy and security informationCentrelink operates within a stringent privacy and security framework to protect customer information. For more information, refer to the privacy and security statement. In accordance with the legislative requirements of the Social Security Law, Family Assistance Law and the Privacy Act 1988, it is vital any organisation requesting customer confirmation gets the consent of the customer before they contact Centrelink. A record of this consent must be kept and be available to Centrelink, for verification purposes, whenever Centrelink should require it.
