Why we request information from financial institutions
We request information from financial institutions for many reasons. Generally we use information from financial institutions to verify customer data as part of our ongoing data matching, compliance reviews and fraud investigations.
Why we introduced the electronic transfer service
The Australian Government is committed to reducing 'red tape' for the business community and making interacting with us easier. Additionally, the Minister for Human Services is committed to reducing the number of letters we send to organisations, businesses and customers each year.
eBusiness provides financial institutions with the option of electronic transfer of information as required by us.
How the electronic transfer service works
Institutions can log on to a secure application to transmit documents and files to us. All files are sent via a secure messaging system to a password protected specialised mailbox.
Privacy and security information
We operate within a stringent privacy and security framework to protect customer information. The secure messaging system we use for this process uses industry standard data encryption.
