Overview
The King Island and Furneaux Group (KIFG) intrastate component comprises one of the three components of the Tasmanian Freight Equalisation Scheme.
It was first introduced on 1 July 2008 under the name King Island and Flinders Island (KIFI) intrastate component, covering eligible shipments of freight between King Island and the main island of Tasmania and between Flinders Island and the main island of Tasmania.
From 16 November 2008, this component was expanded to include eligible shipments between any island in the Furneaux Group and the main island of Tasmania. This component has subsequently been renamed to King Island and Furneaux Group (KIFG) intrastate component.
Depending on the date of shipment, different eligibility requirements apply. Please see the Eligible goods section for details.

Available assistance
Assistance payable under the TFES KIFG intrastate component is calculated by Centrelink on the basis of a twenty foot equivalent unit (TEU) container or equivalent, using the same parameters and methodology applied to processing TFES interstate claims, except for:
- goods moved between King Island and the main island of Tasmania, where the road freight equivalent (RFE) cost is $675 per TEU for dry freight and $742 per TEU for reefer freight, and
