Facing redundancy/retrenchment
Centrelink can assist you with useful information to distribute to staff facing redundancy or retrenchment, and what you can do to best support workers who will be made redundant.
You can advise retrenched workers to contact Centrelink and register to test their eligibility for income support. This includes jobseekers who are not eligible for income support, but who wish to access employment services.
Note: Leave or redundancy payments received upon termination of employment are likely to affect a customer’s Centrelink payment.
To find out more contact Centrelink on the appropriate service and payment number.
Financial assistance and income support
Centrelink may be able to provide retrenched or redundant workers with financial assistance. To find out more contact Centrelink on 13 2850.
Centrelink also offers a free Financial Information Service to help customers to make more informed decisions about their finances and options for Centrelink assistance. You do not need to be a Centrelink customer to speak to a FIS officer. To make an appointment, phone 13 2300.
