Written Response Recruitment:

Employment opportunities are advertised in the Commonwealth of Australia Public Service Gazette, on the Centrelink web site and in the newspapers. Applicants are asked to provide an up to date resume and written responses to the selection criteria by a set closing date.

Application

You need to complete and attach the following forms to your application:

Addressing the selection criteria is an important part of your application and providing specific examples of your experience will assist the selection panel. Your application should include a brief summary of your education, work history and experience (in reverse date order) together with a statement detailing your skills and experience against each of the selection criteria.

Selection panels may not hold interviews but may determine an applicant's suitability for the vacancy from their application and referee reports. You will generally be advised of this and in these instances, applicants should submit two written referee reports (one from a current or recent supervisor) with their application.

Employment decisions will be based on merit, with an assessment being made on the relative suitability of the candidate.

The Centrelink Interview

Candidates who have been recommended for interview are usually interviewed by a panel of two to three Centrelink managers or Team Leaders from the area where the position is located.

The Centrelink interview provides an opportunity to meet you in person and clarify any points from your application. It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about Centrelink and to get a feel for the office environment. You need to make sure you are prepared to demonstrate to the Centrelink interview panel your suitability for the position.
