Cost of calls to "13" numbers, FreeCALL™ 1800 numbers and using VOIP

Calls from your home phone to a Centrelink "13" number from anywhere in Australia are the cost of a local call. Local call charges may vary depending upon the telephone service provider, and mobiles may incur a higher charge.

Calls to "1800" numbers from your home phone are free. Calls from a public phone and mobiles may be timed and charged at a higher rate.

"13" numbers may not be available from VOIP services, please see your service provider for more information. If your VOIP service is unavailable you can also try using a land line.

Call centre and self service availability

All Call Centres are open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm local time unless otherwise stated. The Family Assistance Office is open from 8 am to 8 pm local time. All Call Centres will be closed for business on national public holidays.

The self service line 13 6240 is available 7 days a week, from at least 4 am to 12 midnight Monday to Friday, and normally 4 am to 8 pm Saturday, and 4 am to 10 pm Sunday and public holidays (EDST). The self service line is available on national and state public holidays. See service available times for more details.

If you are eligible to report your fortnightly income using self service, call 13 EARN (13 3276). Availablility times are the same as the self service line. See extra information about how to report employment income.

Note: If you have a technical problem with the self service line, a Customer Service Adviser will be able to assist you with your call from 8 am to 8 pm local time Monday to Friday, except on national public holidays.
