December 2006 Bushfires

Given the devastation caused by the bushfires in Tasmania and Victoria, the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment was activated to assist those adversely affected.

Payments to households of $1,000 per adult and $400 per child were payable to eligible people whose principal place of residence was destroyed or rendered uninhabitable as a direct result of the bushfires.
