North Western Queensland Floods - January/February 2009
Centrelink was one of a number of agencies working collaboratively in the community recovery and disaster relief efforts following the North Western Queensland floods.
Given the devastation caused by the flooding that began on 31 January 2009 in North Western Queensland, the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) was activated to assist people who had been adversely affected by the disaster. Immediate financial assistance was available to employees, small business owners and farmers who had experienced a loss of income as a direct result of the floods.
