Payment choices for families

If you are at risk of being overpaid your Family Tax Benefit or Child Care Benefit, there are payment choices available to help you.

All available payment choices have been designed to suit varying family circumstances to reduce the potential of being overpaid.

Families most at risk of being overpaid are those who get their Family Tax Benefit as fortnightly payments or Child Care Benefit as reduced child care fees, which are worked out using an estimate of your family's annual income.

If you would like to know more about the available payment options to help reduce the risk of being overpaid you can:

  • refer to the Family Assistance Office guide to payments factsheet
  • refer to the the what, why and how of family assistance booklet
  • phone the Family Assistance Office on 13 6150

There are also a range of services available online where you can:

  • update your family income estimate
  • use the family assistance estimator to work out your possible family assistance entitlement and the likely effect on your entitlement if your family's circumstances change.
