Seniors Supplement - Secure and Sustainable Pension reforms

The Government is introducing these changes as part of the Secure and Sustainable Pension reforms.

This measure provides a new Seniors Supplement to Commonwealth Seniors Health Card holders and eligible Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card holders. It will have the same value as Telephone Allowance (higher internet rate) plus Seniors Concession Allowance.

The Seniors Supplement will be non-taxable.

The Seniors Concession Allowance will be abolished for Commonwealth Seniors Health Card holders following the payment resulting from the 20 September 2009 test date. Telephone Allowance will no longer be available to Commonwealth Seniors Health Card holders following the instalment that relates to the 20 September 2009 test date.
