About Youth Connections
Youth Connections can assist young people who may not achieve Year 12 or equivalent and have barriers that limit opportunities to participate in education, training or employment. Youth Connections providers will work with young people to help make a successful transition through education onto further education, training or work.
Eligibility
You may be eligible for Youth Connections if you are:
- aged 15–19 years*
- an Australian citizen or permanent resident or on a humanitarian visa (subclasses 200-204, 866 and 851)
- at risk of not attaining Year 12 or an equivalent qualification
- at risk of not making a successful transition to further education, training or employment
- there are barriers that impact on your ability to participate in education, training or employment, such as educational, personal, social, cultural, or community factors.
*There are State or Territory age variations to these eligibility requirements.
You do not need to be receiving income support payments to participate in Youth Connections.
Early school leavers
Youth Connections fully satisfies activity test requirements for Youth Allowance for early school leavers who have not attained Year 12 or an equivalent qualification.
How to access Youth Connections
You may be referred to Youth Connections by Centrelink if you are still at school, are about to leave school or have recently left school.
