Centrelink financial seminars for Holden workers
South Australia Media Release
Friday, 9 March 2007
Centrelink's Financial Information Service will hold four seminars for Holden workers this week to help those considering redundancy to assess their options.
The seminars will be held at the Elizabeth TAFE Theatrette in Elizabeth at 12.00pm and 4.00pm, on both Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 March.
"This is obviously a difficult time for affected workers and their families and Centrelink is doing all it can to offer assistance," said Centrelink Financial Information Services Coordinator, Mark Moffatt.
The seminars will outline the impact any package may have on family payments or other Centrelink payments.
"Speakers will also talk about the impact of leave and other entitlements on any eligibility to Centrelink payments," Mr Moffatt said.
Centrelink has a network of Financial Information Service Officers throughout Australia who conduct regular seminars to help people plan and prepare for their financial future.
The Financial Information Service staff are experts in helping Australians plan for their future, by making the most of their resources.
"We are holding two seminars a day to make it easy for workers to attend at either the start or end of their shift," Mr Moffatt said.
"Workers need to be aware there may be a waiting period for any Centrelink payment if they receive a redundancy package.
"I'd encourage any worker who's considering applying for a package to attend one of these seminars."
