Hazem El Masri may have retired from the National Rugby League (NRL), but he hasn’t forgotten his community of fans.
Instead of kicking goals for the Bulldogs, Hazem's now kicking goals for the job seekers of Canterbury - Bankstown, in his role as special guest ambassador at the upcoming Bankstown 'Keep Australia Working' Centrelink Jobs Expo.
Hazem will inspire thousands of people expected at the Jobs Expo and pass on the qualities of courage, commitment and dedication that saw him rise to the very top in his stellar sporting career.
"I'm honoured to be guest ambassador at the Bankstown Jobs Expo. I'm passionate about helping the community that has supported me throughout my career, and happy that I can give something back to them," Hazem said.
"I know there are people out there doing it tough at the moment, especially in the Canterbury- Bankstown region," said Hazem. "But if I can inspire just 1 job seeker to have confidence in themselves and go that little bit harder, then that could make the difference in getting that job and changing their life forever."
With over 80 exhibitors already registered to take part in the expo, bringing with them hundreds of real jobs, the Bankstown 'Keep Australia Working' Centrelink Jobs Expo is a one-stop jobs supermarket.
"I encourage all job seekers to come on down to the Jobs Expo - it's free. Bring a 1 page current resume with you. If you haven't got one, the guys from Centrelink will help you get one. Come and talk to the exhibitors and check out the huge jobs board with hundreds of jobs," Hazem said.
The Centrelink Jobs Expo will be held from 10 am to 3 pm on Friday, 12 February at the Bankstown Town Hall. Organisations interested in taking part in the Jobs Expo should contact Centrelink on (02) 9205 1239.
