New South Wales media release
Wednesday, 21 April 2010
Centrelink customers are invited to visit the Batemans Bay customer service centre on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 April to learn how to make the most of Centrelink’s online self-service options.
Centrelink Batemans Bay manager Debbie McCormack said customers will be able to come in to the office to get an introduction to online self-service.
"We’ll have expert staff on hand all day on Thursday and Friday who will demonstrate how easy self-service is to use.
"It’s a great opportunity for customers to have a helping hand as they navigate their online self-service options for the first time.
"The best thing about online self-service is customers can access it using their own computer or one of the self-service computers available in the office," Debbie said.
"Students, families, seniors and nominees can all use online self service to do routine business with us, and soon job seekers will be able to as well.
"We’re encouraging anyone interested in using self-service to take the opportunity to come in to the office on Thursday and Friday to learn how. Tea and coffee will be provided," Debbie said.
"Of course, our team at Batemans Bay are always available to provide face-to-face assistance to customers when they need it," Debbie said.
Centrelink customers can now also buy low-cost PCs thanks to an ongoing partnership between Centrelink and not-for-profit organisation WorkVentures.
WorkVentures has a new range of PCs available, including internet ready Pentium 4 PCs with Windows XP Pro, Microsoft Office 2003 and technical support from $290 plus delivery.
Customers interested in purchasing a low-cost PC can contact their local Centrelink office or phone WorkVentures on 1800 112 205.
Customers will be able to learn how to use self-service at the special event on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 April, from 8:15 am to 4:45 pm, at the Batemans Bay Centrelink customer service centre, located at 19 Beach Road, Batemans Bay.
