Easier access to Centrelink services in Coonabarabran
New South Wales media release
Wednesday, 22 September 2010
Access to government services has just been made easier, with the Coonabarabran Centrelink Agent now operating from new and improved premises within the Community Services Building.
Centrelink Rural Services Officer Dale Frew said the new office is more spacious and has more facilities to help customers complete their Centrelink business.
"There are two new self-service computers connected to a printer and the internet, where you can do routine Centrelink business like updating your details, reporting employment income, and other activities like job search.
"There is also a new multi-function device for scanning, photocopying and faxing, and access to a self-service telephone."
Dale said customers of the Centrelink Agent can also make use of self-service facilities outside of the regular Agent opening hours of 9 am to 12 pm.
"Access to self-service facilities is available until 3:30 pm, but it’s important to remember you won’t have the added assistance of Agent staff after 12 pm.
"However, if you’re just doing your routine Centrelink business, the extended availability of self-service at the Agent makes it even more convenient."
The improved services are in addition to those already available at the Centrelink Agent, including ability to have your documents sighted and copied for Proof of Identity purposes as well as access to Centrelink forms and publications.
"It’s important for rural communities to have access to government services, so it’s great to see local people have more convenient ways to do their Centrelink business," Dale said.
The Coonabarabran Centrelink Agent is located in the Community Services Building, John Street, and is open from 9 am to 12 pm weekdays, with extended access to self-service facilities available from 9 am to 3:30 pm.
