Special Centrelink arrangements for Coonamble customers
New South Wales Media Release
Monday, 4 January 2010
Centrelink has put in place special arrangements today (4 January) for customers affected by the closure of the Coonamble Centrelink Agents due to local flooding.
Centrelink Area Manager, Peter Gillies, said Centrelink has organised phone lodgement for today for customers who reside in flood-affected areas and cannot attend local Agents or Dubbo Centrelink Customer Service Centre because of flooding.
"Road closures may make it difficult for some customers to visit Centrelink for appointments or to lodge forms," Mr Gillies said.
The arrangements are for people living in Coonamble with the postcode 2829.
"These temporary arrangements mean customers who usually lodge their forms in person can do so over the phone if they can’t attend a Centrelink Customer Service Centre or Agent due to local flooding," Mr Gillies said.
"We will be keeping a close eye on the situation in Coonamble and we will extend these special arrangements if necessary.
"Customers who have appointments booked can call Centrelink to reschedule if they can’t make it in to their local office because of road closures.
"I’d encourage any customer needing to visit Centrelink, but who is unable to due to the local flooding, to call Centrelink on their main payment number."
