Improved access to Centrelink services in Cootamundra

Residents of Cootamundra now have even better access to government services close to home at the Cootamundra Centrelink Agent
Centrelink Rural Services Officer Sue Riley said it’s important for rural communities to have access to government services.
"Centrelink Agents provide information on payments and services, and can help with forms and claim lodgement, and now that service is expanding further in Cootamundra.
"The Cootamundra Centrelink Agent is one of the first sites in Australia to trial a new system allowing the Agent to have limited access to customer information on the Centrelink system.
"Customers can now give written permission to the Agent, which gives them limited ‘view only’ access to payment details, records of recently faxed documents, form lodgement dates and future appointment details," Sue said.
"This is a great initiative to connect local people to services closer to home, as this level of information is usually only available by contacting Centrelink directly or by using self-service.
"This means the Agent is now in an even better position to assist customers to complete their Centrelink business," Sue said.
Customers can also make use of a range of self-help facilities at the Agent, including a telephone, internet enabled computer, printer, photocopier and fax machine.
The Cootamundra Centrelink Agent is located at 148 Parker Street, Cootamundra, and is open from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm weekdays.
Agent staff can also sight and photocopy Centrelink Proof of Identity documents and refer customers to Centrelink staff (including specialists) if further support is required.
