Media release (New South Wales):
Narooma office marks first birthday with perfect score
Tuesday, 7 December 2010
On Friday (10 December) the Narooma combined Centrelink and Medicare Australia office will celebrate its first birthday with a self-service registration day for customers.
Officially opened on December 10, 2009, Narooma was the first office in Australia to be co-located under the Australian Government's Service Delivery Reform agenda.
Since then another 29 combined Centrelink and Medicare Australia offices have opened around the country.
It may be the co-location's first birthday but it's the Centrelink and Medicare customers who are getting all the presents, with the combined Narooma team achieving a customer satisfaction rating of 100% for the September quarter.
Narooma Centrelink manager Lucy May said the extraordinary 100% rating was a tribute to the hard-working, down-to-earth approach of staff.
"Basically, we treat customers with respect and make them feel comfortable when they come into the office. We often get positive comments from our customers but it's great to see that feedback and know that people are pleased with our service.
"My team, including Roger, Peter, Allan and Nathan as well as Lynette Bates and her Medicare colleagues, Karen and Tracey, all do a marvellous job and should be congratulated," Lucy said.
Friday will be business as usual for the Narooma team but Lucy is encouraging customers to get down to the office on Friday for a self-service registration and information day and register for online self-service before the holiday period begins.
"We'll have staff on hand all day on Friday who can demonstrate how easy self-service is to use. This will be a great opportunity to come in, get registered and avoid the queues during the Christmas rush.
"Students, families, seniors and nominees can all use online self-service to do routine business with us in a more convenient way," Lucy said.
"Job seekers can now also take advantage of online self-service by reporting via the website each fortnight.
"Of course, our team at the Narooma Customer Service Centre are always available to provide face-to-face assistance to customers when they need it," Lucy said.
Centrelink customers can now also buy low-cost PCs thanks to an ongoing partnership between Centrelink and not-for-profit organisation WorkVentures.
WorkVentures has a new range of PCs available; including internet ready Pentium 4 PCs with Windows XP Pro, Microsoft Office 2003 and technical support from $290 plus delivery.
Customers interested in purchasing a low-cost PC can contact their local Centrelink office or phone WorkVentures on 1800 112 205.
