Residents of Gundagai and surrounding areas will have improved access to Centrelink services with self-service facilities now available at the Gundagai Centrelink Agent.
Centrelink Rural Services Officer Rebecca Driscoll said staff at the Centrelink Agent have been trained to assist customers to use self-service.
"Having self-service facilities means customers can update their personal details, report employment income and provide other information to Centrelink without having to travel a long distance to the nearest office.
"The best thing about self-service is that it can be also be accessed online through a customer’s own computer.
"I’d encourage anyone who is interested in using self-service to visit the Gundagai Centrelink Agent where one of the friendly staff will be happy to help you get started.
"This is a great addition to the services already available for customers, including free access to telephone, fax and photocopier services so people can do their Centrelink business.
"It’s important for rural communities to have access to government services, so this is a great initiative to give local people more convenient ways to do their Centrelink business," Rebecca said.
The Gundagai Centrelink Agent is located at the Rural Transaction Centre, Sheridan Street, Gundagai, and is open from 9 am to 4 pm weekdays.
