The talents of young Yass photographers were on display when a photography competition organised by Centrelink was held last Friday.
Students aged 5 to 17 from primary and high schools were invited to submit a photograph representing their life and experiences as a ‘country kid’.
The competition attracted more than 60 entries from students from 8 schools in Yass and surrounding areas, including Boorowa, Bowning, Rye Park and Gundaroo.
Centrelink Rural Services Officer Rebecca Driscoll said the competition was a great way for local students to showcase their creative talents and share their experiences.
"Centrelink offers a wide range of services to rural Australians, so it was great to see how the photographs reflected the diversity of life as a ‘country kid’.
"Local businesses also really got behind the competition, generously donating prizes worth $1,500 for the winning photographers.
"It has been great for Centrelink to be able to work with the Yass Valley Youth Council to organise this competition and strengthen our links with the local community," Rebecca said.
All photographs entered in the competition are now on display at the Yass Valley Library.
