Special Centrelink arrangements for customers in and around Batemans Bay, Narooma and Bega
New South Wales media release
Tuesday, 16 February 2010
Centrelink has put in place special arrangements today (16 February) for customers in Batemans Bay, Narooma and Bega affected by localised flooding and road closures in South Coast New South Wales.
Centrelink Area Manager, Peter Gillies, said Centrelink has organised phone lodgement today for customers who reside in affected areas and cannot attend a Centrelink Customer Service Centre because of localised flooding and road closures.
"Road closures may make it difficult for some customers to visit their Centrelink Customer Service Centre for appointments or to lodge forms," Mr Gillies said.
The arrangements are for people living in Batemans Bay, Narooma and Bega and surrounding towns, with the following postcodes:
- Batemans Bay – 2536 and 2537
- Narooma – 2546
- Bega – 2550
"These temporary arrangements mean customers who are required to lodge their forms in person today can do so over the phone if they can’t attend their local Centrelink Customer Service Centre due to local flooding," Mr Gillies said.
"We will be keeping a close eye on the situation on the South Coast and we will extend these special arrangements if necessary.
"Customers who have appointments booked today can call Centrelink to reschedule if they can’t make it in to their local office because of localised flooding and road closures.
"I’d encourage any customer needing to visit Centrelink over the next few days that may be unable to attend due to the local flooding, to call Centrelink on their main payment number."
