Media release (Queensland):
Special Centrelink arrangements for customers in Dalby, Tara, Miles, Chinchilla and Taroom
Tuesday 21 December 2010
Centrelink has put in place special arrangements today and tomorrow (December 20 and 21) for customers living in Dalby, Tara, Miles, Chinchilla and Taroom who are affected by road closures due to flooding.
Centrelink Area Manager Theresa Leslie said Centrelink has organised phone lodgement for customers who live in the affected areas and cannot attend a Centrelink office because of road closures.
"Road closures may make it difficult for some customers to visit their Centrelink Customer Service Centre or Agent for appointments or to lodge forms," Ms Leslie said.
The arrangements are for people living in these towns and surrounding areas with the postcodes: 4352, 4404, 4405, 4406, 4407, 4408, 4410, 4411, 4412, 4413, 4415, 4416, 4417, 4418, 4419, 4420, 4421, 4422, 4423 and 4424.
"These temporary arrangements mean customers who usually lodge their forms in person can do so over the phone if they can't attend their local Centrelink Customer Service Centre due to flooding," Ms Leslie said.
"We will keep a close eye on the situation and will extend these arrangements if necessary.
"Customers who have appointments booked can call Centrelink to reschedule if they can't make it in to their local office.
"I'd encourage any customers unable to visit Centrelink due to the floods to call Centrelink on their main payment number."
