Centrelink Indigenous Services Manager for SA, Lauren Callinan, said NAIDOC Week is an important celebration for Centrelink, with many events being held around the country.
"It’s also a great opportunity for us to recognise the Centrelink staff who have made a valuable contribution to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander customers and communities."
NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July, and this year’s theme is 'Unsung Heroes - Closing the Gap by Leading Their Way'.
"The theme of ‘Unsung Heroes' recognises the part played by the quiet achievers in the Indigenous community, both now and in the past," Ms Callinan said.
Centrelink has Indigenous Services Officers based in every state and territory, four Indigenous call centres, remote area visiting teams, and more than 180 Centrelink agents in remote communities across Australia.
