Centrelink services hit home
Victoria media release
Wednesday, 21 April 2010
Access to Government services may be closer to home than many realise, with local Centrelink agents positioned in many rural communities around Australia, including Kerang, Balranald and Robinvale.
Centrelink Rural Services Officer, Karen Fedke, said it’s important for small communities to have access to Government services.
"Although Centrelink agents do not have system access, they can provide face-to-face information on payments and services, and help with forms and claim lodgement.
"Agent staff can even sight and photocopy Centrelink proof of identity documents, which can save a lot of travel time," Karen said.
"Self-help facilities are also available to assist you with conducting your Centrelink business including a telephone, internet enabled computer, printer, photocopier and facsimile," she said.
"Centrelink agents can also refer you to Centrelink staff (including specialists) if you require further support."
"These services have been established in the local community to ensure that people can access Centrelink easily and close to home," Karen said.
"Next time you need to access Centrelink, speak to one of the friendly staff at your local agent."
