Ringwood Centrelink celebrates National Families Week
Victoria media release
Wednesday, 12 May 2010
Ringwood Centrelink is joining in this year's National Families Week (15–21 May) celebrations.
In partnership with Blackburn English Language School (Maroondah campus), AMES Education Volunteer Tutor program, and Ringwood Library, Centrelink will be taking part in morning activities with local parents and children, including refugees from Burma and Myanmar. Activities will include story time, singing and sharing of cultural experiences. Morning tea will also be provided.
Ringwood Centrelink Manager, Chris Cahill, said that all families in the Ringwood area are welcome to join in the festivities.
"The theme for National Families Week 2010 is 'The best start: Supporting happy, healthy childhoods,'" Chris said.
"The focus this year is on encouraging everyone to explore ways in which they can provide the best start for children.
"Centrelink is a major supporter of National Families Week and recognises the important role families play in our lives and in our community."
Chris said Families Week is also a good opportunity to remind Centrelink customers who are currently receiving Family Tax Benefit and Child Care Benefit to estimate their income for the 2010–2011 financial year.
"There are a number of ways that customers can do this, including by telephone or returning the completed form included with their letter.
"Families also have the convenience of updating their family income estimate online using Centrelink’s Online Services."
To provide your income estimate for the 2010–11 financial year, visit the Centrelink website or phone 13 6150.
