Broadmeadows Centrelink celebrates Youth Week
Victoria media release

Broadmeadows Centrelink is joining the Youth Week celebrations with an expo to highlight employment, education and training pathways for young people in the area.
The expo will be held at Broadmeadows Centrelink Customer Service Centre on Thursday 15 April. A number of local service providers, including Centrelink, will be on hand between 10 am and 2 pm to share information with the community.
Broadmeadows Centrelink Team Leader, Sally Wannis, has spent the last few months rounding up service providers in the area to participate on the day.
"There is a lot of support for young people in Broadmeadows, but sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming trying to work out where to go," Sally said.
"I saw Youth Week as the perfect opportunity to provide young people in the Broadmeadows area access to a range of services and information in the 1 location.
"It was also important to bring on board a number of youth support services that work with young people at risk of becoming disengaged from mainstream services."
Job Services Australia, Hume City Council, local schools, apprenticeship providers and Youth Connections providers will have information stalls on the day.
"The theme for Youth Week 2010 is ‘Live it Now’, so the idea was to bring youth specific agencies and services together to chat to young people and discuss pathways to employment, education and training – it’s about what you can do today to start planning your future," Sally said.
"I’m thrilled that so many local agencies will be taking part in the expo. It is a fantastic opportunity for the young people of Broadmeadows to find out more about services available to them, in an informal setting.
"I would encourage anyone interested to come down, join us for a barbeque and have a chat with the many service providers that will be there."
