Media release (Western Australia):
Special Centrelink arrangements for flood-affected Carnarvon customers
Monday, 20 December 2010
Centrelink has put in place special arrangements for Monday, 20 December, for customers who are unable to get to the Carnarvon Centrelink Customer Service Centre due to widespread flooding and road closures in the area.
Centrelink Area Manager, Jan Lipiec, said Centrelink phone lodgement will be in effect on Monday, 20 December, for customers who have been affected by flooding and cannot attend the Centrelink Customer Service Centre in Carnarvon.
“Road closures may make it difficult for some customers to report income or to lodge forms,” Mr Lipiec said.
The arrangements are for people living in and around Carnarvon, 6701.
“These arrangements mean customers who usually lodge their forms in person can do so over the phone if they can’t get to the Centrelink Customer Service Centre due to the flooding,” Mr Lipiec said.
“We will continue to closely monitor the situation in Carnarvon and we will continue these special arrangements for as long as necessary.
“Customers who have appointments booked can call Centrelink to reschedule if they can’t make it because of the flooding.
“I’d encourage any customer needing to visit Centrelink, but who is unable to due to the flooding, to call Centrelink on their main payment number.”
To make form lodgements over the phone or for enquiries, customers can call Centrelink on the relevant phone number below.
