Esperance Centrelink is hosting a presentation ceremony to celebrate winners of a recent colouring in competition as part of this year’s National Families Week (15-21 May) celebrations.
Centrelink’s Corrin Chard said that during the last school holidays, Esperance Centrelink held a colouring in competition to engage children while their parents visited the office.
“The competition has been a big hit with both children, parents and the wider community, who have enjoyed the children’s artwork displayed in the office,” Corrin said.
“We found the children were very competitive with many insisting to take the artwork home to make sure the job was not rushed!
“All children who participated will receive a small prize. The winners of the five to nine and over nine category will receive a gift voucher for the next holiday program at the Cannery and the winner of the under four category will receive some play dough.”
The prizes have been donated by the Esperance Centrelink staff.
“The theme for National Families Week 2010 is ‘The best start: Supporting happy, healthy childhoods,” Corrin said.
“The focus this year is on encouraging everyone to explore ways in which they can provide the best start for children.
“Centrelink is a major supporter of National Families Week and recognises the important role families play in our lives and in our community.”
Corrin said Families Week is also a good opportunity to remind Centrelink customers who are currently receiving Family Tax Benefit and Child Care Benefit to estimate their income for the 2010-2011 financial year.
“There are a number of ways that customers can do this, including by telephone or returning the completed form included with their letter.
“Families also have the convenience of updating their family income estimate online using Centrelink’s Online Services.”
To provide your income estimate for the 2010-11 financial year, use Centrelink's Online Services or phone 13 6150.
