Centrelink continues to support Toodyay residents

Centrelink will continue to support the residents of Toodyay by maintaining a presence at the Toodyay Recovery Centre until at least Friday, 8 January 2010.
Centrelink Recovery Centre Manager, Denise Craig, said Customer Service Advisers and Social Workers will continue to be available at the Recovery Centre to support local residents.
"The Australian Government has announced federal assistance for Western Australians who have been seriously affected by bushfires that started on 29 December 2009," Denise said.
"The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment comprises payments of $1,000 for each eligible adult and $400 for each eligible child," Denise said.
"The payments provide financial assistance to people:
- who have been seriously injured
- whose principal place of residence has been destroyed or significantly damaged
- who were unable to return home for 24 hours or
- who have experienced a utility failure for 48 hours or more."
"People can make a claim in person at the Toodyay Recovery Centre, at any Centrelink Customer Service Centre or Centrelink Agent or over the phone by calling 180 2266," Denise said.
People have until 30 June 2010 to lodge a claim for the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment.
The Toodyay Recovery Centre is at the Toodyay Memorial Hall, 117 Stirling Terrace, Toodyay and is open from 10 am to 3 pm.
