Tuesday, 20 July 2004
Help and advice from Centrelink will be available to students at Charles Darwin University during the academic year.
Specialist staff from the areas of ABSTUDY, Austudy Payment and Youth Allowance will be available to help students with their enquiries.
This is the second year Centrelink has been providing a service at the University.
Centrelink Youth and Student Customer Service Officer, Adriana Gullace, said that since the initiative began the response has been positive and Centrelink customers on campus are wrapped with the convenient service.
"This service is invaluable to these students who juggle busy study and work regimes and struggle to find time to make it to the local office," said Adriana.
Adriana said her team is focusing on getting accurate, easy to understand information out to their customers.
"Centrelink offers a range of services, programs and payments that helps people in their move toward independence," said Adriana.
"We are there to support the students and help them achieve their goals," she said.
Centrelink staff will be at Charles Darwin University between 11am and 2pm every weekday until Friday, 30 of July to accept forms and help with any enquiries. From then on it will be every Tuesday and Wednesday until the end of November.
