B Digital option for Centrelink customers:

Western Australia Media Release
Thursday, 28 July 2005

Centrelink customers now have the option of paying their B Digital telephone and internet bills through Centrelink's direct-debit service, Centrepay.

Centrepay Manager, Trevor Whitmore said B Digital had recently signed on to Centrepay – a free, direct bill paying service for Centrelink customers, through which regular payments can be made to registered service providers.

"It's certainly a great benefit to Centrelink customers to be able to pay their home phone, mobile or internet bill through Centrepay," Mr Whitmore said.

"We encourage people to use Centrepay as a way of better managing their finances. It already helps people pay other types of bills."

"In fact there are more than 20 000 customers in WA who use Centrepay to pay a range of bills including rent, phone, electricity and gas bills."

B Digital's Sale & Services Operations Manager, Steve Mitchinson, said they are pleased with the new Centrepay agreement, which offers customers more flexible payment options for their phone and internet bills.

"Instead of having large bills every month, customers can have small, manageable amounts deducted each fortnight from their Centrelink payment, which makes it easier for individuals and families to budget," Mr Mitchinson said.

"We see it as another way we can make a difference for our customers."

The service is available to anyone receiving a Centrelink payment, including Age Pension, Disability Support Pension, Newstart Allowance, Youth Allowance or Family Tax Benefit.

Centrepay can also be used to pay gas, electricity, water, council rates and many other services, where providers have an agreement with Centrepay.

People who wish to use Centrepay to pay their B Digital bill or other living expenses can call Centrelink, visit their nearest office or download a Centrepay deduction form from the Centrelink website at www.centrelink.gov.au
