Special Centrelink arrangements for flood-affected Northern QLD customers
Queensland Media Release
Thursday, 20 April 2006
Centrelink has put in place special arrangements today for customers affected by flooding in Northern Queensland.
Centrelink Area Manager, Peter Searston, said Centrelink has organised special phone lodgement for today for customers who attend the Cairns, Atherton, Innisfail, Mareeba, Earlville, Smithfield, Edmonton and Mossman offices.
“The temporary arrangements mean that any customer who usually has to lodge their form in person can do so over the phone,” said Mr Searston.
“The phone lodgement option has been activated to ensure customers will not be disadvantaged by the floods.
“All Centrelink offices in the region are open today, but with limited staff. The flooding has meant that some staff have been unable to get to work today.
“Centrelink will continue to monitor the situation over the coming days to ensure that customers are not disadvantaged.”
