Register for online services

On this page you will find information about how to register to access some online services, and the information you will need before you start the registration process.

If you have registered for online services at a Customer Service Centre or over the phone, you do not need to register again. You can logon to online services now using your Customer Access Number (CAN) and the temporary password you were given.

How to register

You can register for online services by selecting the register for online services link located under the logon button at the right of your screen.

You will need to:

  1. identify yourself using your Customer Reference Number (CRN), if you have one
  2. answer questions about yourself and your Centrelink record, to help us verify your identity
  3. confirm your access level
  4. choose your password for online services
  5. set your PIN (Personal Identification Number) for phone services (optional)
  6. set your secret questions and answers, (which can help if you forget your password)
  7. be provided with a Customer Access Number (CAN)
  8. receive information about how to logon to use online services
  9. follow the prompts to complete the registration process.

You are required to provide five secret questions and answers when you register for online services. These are used to increase protection over your personal and sensitive information. You will need to correctly answer a secret question each time you logon and if you need to reset your password.

Before you start

In order to protect your privacy we will ask you some questions that confirm information that you have previously provided to us for your Centrelink records.

To help you register, you may need the following items to be able to answer the questions asked:

  • a recent letter from Centrelink and/or the Family Assistance Office
  • a recent statement from your bank where your Centrelink and/or Family Assitance Office Payments are sent
  • your concession card if you have one (e.g. Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, Health Care Card)
  • any documents that you have presented to Centrelink as Proof of Identity (e.g. driver's licence or passport).

Already registered?

If you have registered for online services at a Customer Service Centre or over the phone, you do not need to register again. You can logon to online services now using your Customer Access Number (CAN) and the temporary password you were given. You will need to choose a new password when you logon for the first time. If you have forgotten your password or CAN you will need to contact us.
