How to apply
You can apply for an Advance Payment in a number of ways:
Claiming online
Claiming by phone

- Phone us on your main payment number
In person
- Visit your nearest Centrelink Customer Service Centre.
You will need to tell us about your income and expenses. This is to make sure you can afford to repay the money to Centrelink.
Documentation
We will tell you if there are other documents and forms you need to provide. The sooner we receive your documents, the sooner we can process your claim.
Claim outcome
We will tell you or send you a letter advising if your claim is successful. If you are eligible for Advance Payment, the letter will also tell you when you will get paid, how much you will get paid, when your repayments start, and how much you have to repay each fortnight.
If you disagree with a decision we make
You always have the right to appeal any decision made by Centrelink.
