Income and Assets Tests for Carer Payment:

Carer Payment is subject to an Income Test and Assets Test depending on whether you are a carer or a person being cared for, in which case the different tests appear below. These income and assets tests are effective from 1 July 2008.

Income Test - Carer:

• Go to Income Test for Pensions.

Income Test - Person Being Cared For:

• Go to Income Test for Pensions, unless person is not an Income Support Pension or Service Pension recipient in which case a Special Care Receiver Income Test applies.

Assets Test - Carer:

• Homeowners go to assets test for homeowners.
• Non-Homeowners go to assets test for non-homeowners.
• Hardship provisions may apply.

Assets Test - Person Being Cared For:

• Go to assets test for homeowners or the assets test for non-homeowners, unless person is not an Income Support or Service Pension recipient in which case a Special Care receiver assets test applies.
