You should submit your claim for Child Care Benefit through the Family Assistance Office as soon as possible, so that you can be paid from the earliest possible date. If you have children in registered care, your claim must be lodged within the 12 months following the care being provided.
Depending on the type of care you are claiming for, you can claim Child Care Benefit online or with forms.
Claiming online
- Register for online services and submit your claim online for Approved Child Care.
Claiming with forms
For a Child Care Benefit claim form, you can:

- phone us on 13 6150
- visit your nearest Family Assistance Office at Centrelink
Documentation
When lodging your claim we will ask you for information to assess your entitlement. This includes your income and/or your partner's income.
You will need to provide any other verification documents requested within 14 days. The sooner we receive your documents, the sooner we can process your claim.

Claim outcome
You will receive a letter from the Family Assistance Office telling you the outcome of your claim. If you are eligible, the letter will give you details about your fee reduction.
If you disagree with a decision we make
If you are not happy with a decision made by the Family Assistance Office you can discuss it or request a review of the decision.
