Residence requirements
To be eligible for Child Care Benefit, you and your child (or children) must have legal resident status and be residing in Australia on a permanent basis.
You must also meet the following requirements:
- be in Australia on the day you lodge your claim, and
- be an Australian resident – this means that you have been living in Australia on a permanent basis and you are either:
- an Australian citizen, or
- the holder of a permanent resident visa, or
- the holder of a special category visa – that is someone who arrived on a New Zealand passport, or
- the holder of a particular temporary visa e.g. partner provisional, interdependency or temporary protection visa.
