How do I receive the Child Care Tax Rebate?

From the 1 July 2008 onwards the Child Care Tax Rebate will be paid quarterly based on your Child Care Benefit entitlement after details of your child care usage have been received from your child care provider.

For the 2006-07 and 2007-08 financial years the Family Assistance Office will assess your eligibility for the Child Care Tax Rebate and make this payment after the end of each financial year once your actual Child Care Benefit entitlement has been worked out.

If you claim Child Care Benefit as a lump sum after the end of the financial year, your Child Care Benefit and Child Care Tax Rebate entitlements will be paid once your Child Care Benefit claim has been lodged and approved.

You will not need to lodge a separate claim for the Child Care Tax Rebate.

How do I claim the rebate for previous years?

For child care costs incurred in the 2004-05 or 2005-06 financial year, you will still need to claim the rebate through the Australian Taxation Office in your relevant tax return.

How do I find out more about the rebate for 2004-05 and 2005-06?
