Crisis Payment

Crisis Payment helps you if you are in severe financial hardship because you have experienced an extreme circumstance such as domestic violence or a natural disaster, you have been released from gaol or psychiatric confinement, or you have arrived in Australia for the first time on a qualifying humanitarian visa.

Note: Crisis Payment is different to an Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment. If you were affected by a disaster—for example, if your home is destroyed by bushfires or floods and you have not received or are not qualified for Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment, you may claim Crisis Payment. You cannot receive Crisis Payment if you have already received an Australian Disaster Recovery Payment for the same event.
