Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP)

Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) was announced in the 2006/2007 as a budget measure and is the renaming and amending of the Disaster Relief Payment that takes effect from 1 December 2006.

AGDRP gives you short-term financial assistance if you are adversely affected by a major or widespread disaster.

AGDRP is payable to eligible Australian residents who are adversely affected by a designated natural or non-natural disaster, whether within Australia or offshore. The assistance is made up of a payment to the claimant and an additional amount for each dependent child.

Please Note: The Minister for Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs may determine that an event is a major disaster if satisfied that the event is a disaster that has such a significant impact on individuals that a government response is required.
