Payments
Eligibility
You may be eligible for Education Entry Payment if you:
- are receiving Newstart Allowance, Parenting Payment (partnered), Partner Allowance or Widow Allowance and
- have started or will start an approved education course, and
- have not received Education Entry Payment in the last 12 months, and
- have continuously received your main payment for at least 12 months.
You may also be eligible for Education Entry Payment if you:
- are receiving Carer Payment (adult), Carer Payment (child), Disability Support Pension, Parenting Payment (single), Special Benefit (in some circumstances), Widow B Pension or Wife Pension, and
- are eligible to receive Pensioner Education Supplement, and
- have not already received Education Entry Payment between January and December of this year.
Note: You must also meet the residency requirements of your main payment, and be studying an approved course in Australia.
Payment Rates
Education Entry Payment is a taxable payment of $208.
Claiming
You do not need to make a claim for Education Entry Payment .
Once you provide us with your proof of enrolment in an approved course of study, we will automatically assess your eligibility for Education Entry Payment.
Claim outcome
If you are assessed as eligible for the Education Entry Payment, details of the payments will appear in your next Centrelink statement.
If you disagree with a decision we make
You always have the right to appeal any decision made by Centrelink.
