Change of circumstances
You need to tell the Family Assistance Office if your circumstances change when you are receiving Family Tax Benefit.
For example, you need to tell us if:
- you do not have to lodge tax returns
- you move house
- shared care arrangements of your child change
- your child stops living with you
- your or your partner’s income changes.
If you don't tell the Family Assistance Office about changes to your circumstances, you may be overpaid, and you may have to pay the money back.
If you deliberately do not tell the Family Assistance Office about changes, you could be charged with fraud.
