Payment rates of Disability Support Pension

These payment rates are effective from 1 July 2009.

Maximum rate of Disability Support Pension (over 21, or under 21 with children)

Single $569.80*
Couple $475.90* (each)

Note: * This includes Pharmaceutical Allowance.

Maximum rate of Disability Support Pension (under 21, no children)

Single, under 18, at home $308.40
Single, under 18, independent $476.50
Single, 18–20 years, at home $349.50
Single, 18–20 years, independent $476.50
Member of a couple, under 18 years $475.90
Member of a couple, 18–20 years $475.90

Note: These amounts include a Youth Disability Supplement if you are aged under 21 years with no children.


Disability Support Pension is subject to an income test and an assets test except if you are receiving Disability Support Pension because you are permanently blind. Any rent assistance paid to a permanently blind Disability Support Pension recipient is subject to an income assets test.

Payment adjustments and reviews

Disability Support Pension is usually adjusted twice a year in line with the Consumer Price Index - that is, in line with increases in the costs of living.

Centrelink undertakes regular reviews to ensure you continue to be eligible for payments and your rate of payment is correct.
