What is Considered Full-time Study for Austudy Purposes?
Full-time study means:
- a workload that is considered full-time by an approved institution (at least 75 per cent of the normal full-time student workload each semester), and
- you must have a HECS loading of at least .375 each semester (if the course attracts HECS). If you are not sure about your HECS loading, you will need to contact your university.
This also applies if you are studying by correspondence.
You may be able to undertake a study load of 66 per cent of the normal study load if:
- it is the institution's normal requirement for the course, or
- you were given a specific direction or recommendation in writing by the academic registrar (or equivalent).
You can undertake a study load of 25 per cent of the normal full-time study load if you have a disability (you will be asked for medical documentation). For more information on a full-time study load contact Centrelink on 13 2490.
