What Residence Requirements does Assistance for Isolated Children Scheme have?

To lodge a claim and qualify for Assistance for Isolated Children Scheme, the student (and the applicant) must be:

  • an Australian resident - this means they must normally be living in Australia on a permanent basis and are either:
    • an Australian citizen, or
    • the holder of a permanent resident visa, or
    • a New Zealand citizen who has been living in Australia for a certain minimum period.

Please Note: Changes to the Australian residence requirements DOES NOT affect New Zealand citizens claiming this payment in Australia.
