Carer Payment Special Care Receivers Income and Assets Limits

Carer Payment (adult) and Carer Payment (child) are subject to a Special Care Receivers Income and Assets Test as shown below. These income and assets tests are effective from 20 September 2008.

Non-customer Care Receiver Income Test:

  • The income limit for a non-customer care receiver to qualify their carer for Carer Payment is $88,663.

Non-customer Care Receiver Assets Test:

  • The assets limit for a non-customer care receiver to qualify their carer for Carer Payment is $547,000.
  • If non-customer care receiver assets levels are over $547,000 under certain circumstances the non-customer care receiver's assets test may not disqualify the carer from Carer Payment.
  • Current liquid assests limits for non-customer care receivers are $6000 (single) and $10,000 (partnered).
