Residence requirements

To lodge a claim and qualify for Widow Allowance, you must:

be an Australian resident, and
be in Australia on the day you lodged your claim, and
have lived in Australia for 10 years, or
have both been Australian residents when you were widowed, divorced or separated from your partner, or
have served a qualifying residence period in Australia of 104 weeks, or
have a qualifying residence exemption from the 104 week residence requirement (e.g. you are a refugee).
