Financial Information Service seminars

Centrelink's Financial Information Service (FIS) offers free assistance that can show you how to make informed financial decisions and help you to understand the consequences of those decisions. FIS is available to everyone, whether you are a Centrelink customer or not, through one-on-one appointments or attendance at a FIS seminar.

There will be free seminars at each Centrelink Skills and Jobs Expo location to provide information on how you can manage and make the most of your money, taking into account your current situation. Financial Information Service Officers will cover off topics that highlight what Centrelink services you might be entitled to as well as helping you to understand and take control of your finances.

The main topics covered include:

  • Making your dollar go further
  • Saving for the future
  • Ways that Centrelink can help

Financial Information Service Officers will also be on hand to answer your questions at the FIS stand.

The 30-minute seminars will be held regularly throughout the day. You do not need to book in advance to attend one.

Centrelink's Financial Information Service

Financial education is something we can all benefit from and, if you have recently found yourself with financial challenges, then consider starting at the beginning and learning what your options are.

You can also arrange to speak to a FIS Officer over the telephone or by private appointment. You can telephone 13 2300 to talk to a FIS Officer or to request booklets, leaflets and factsheets about investment products.

If you wish to attend further seminars after the expos, seminars are held at a range of locations across Australia.

To find out more about what seminars are being held in your area or to make a booking:

  • refer to Financial Information Service (FIS) seminars
  • telephone 13 6357 from 9 am to 5 pm (local time)
  • email fis.seminar.bookings@centrelink.gov.au. When you contact us, please include the title, date and location of the seminar you are interested in, and an alternative contact such as a phone number.

Note: Please allow a minimum of 2 days prior to the seminar when booking by email as bookings are actioned after business hours.
